Part time driver needed (posted 12-2023)
Have a few days during the week available and want to make some extra money? Retired but looking for something to do? Have some time during the week and want to make some extra money? Carolina Native Nursery needs a part time delivery driver or drivers. We have clients all over western N.C. that need our native plants delivered to their garden centers, landscape offices, client properties and more. All trips take place on weekdays from 8:00 to 5:00. And we have a flexible schedule. Our delivery trucks are all small, cabover trucks with a 16’ box. We require good driving records but a CDL is not necessary. Some driving and delivery experience is great but not required. Light lifting, no more than 30 lbs., and moving plants is necessary too.

Job Title: Shrub Grower
Reports To: Nursery Manager (company president)
Carolina Native Nursery’s Shrub Grower will be an integral part of our outstanding team. We are looking to find a candidate who wants to find a home in western N.C. Someone who possesses the qualities of autonomy, responsibility, and attention to detail is necessary. Our mission as a company is always to grow great native plants.
The Shrub Grower is a new position at our nursery, and will work with our Nursery Manager and Potting Crew Leader to understand how we propagate, pot up, fertilize, irrigate, spray, and sell native shrubs including native azaleas. We expect that after one growing season the Shrub Grower will have enough experience to offer their own decisions on how and when to grow and care for all of our plants the following year.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Management of shrub farm and shrub inventory
- Follow all of our established standard operating procedures (SOPS)
- Maintenance of all existing shrubs on the property
- Learn how we: monitor moisture and run irrigation, manage pests and diseases, fertilize, prune, and weed
- Assist supervising the team of seasonal workers when they are potting up shrubs
- Complete and update the daily schedules for shrub care
- Continue to develop SOPs to insure top quality plants
- Advise sales staff of product quality and availability
- Help to develop shrub projections and purchase schedules
Nursery experience will be favored
Skill and experience in data entry/record keeping
Microsoft Word and Excel
Hardworking and engaged team member
Pesticide applicator’s license is a plus
Operating skid steers and tractors is a plus
Able to work in outdoor conditions
This is a salaried, full time position with benefits including health Insurance and paid time off. Salary depends on experience. We are open Monday-Friday.
Requirements: Associates or bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related nursery production experience.
